Everything About The Pointe Technique Of Dance

The pointe could be known as the offspring of the classical ballet technique in which a ballet dancer supports all their body weight on the tips of their fully extended feet within the pointe shoes. A dancer is known to be en pointe when the body of the dancer is supported. A fully extended vertical foot is said to be en pointe when touching the floor, even when they are not bearing the weight.

The pointe technique of dance is performed while pointe shoes in the pointe dance classes in NYC. The shoes use structural reinforcing to distribute the weight load of the dancer’s foot, thus reducing the load on the toes enough to enable the dancer to support the dancer’s body weight on their fully vertical feet.

This dance technique was invented from a desire for female dancers in order to appear graceful and weightless. Men and women are both capable of pointe work but it is most often performed by women. In order to develop the proper strength and technique for the pointe work, there is a need for extensive training and practice of the dance in pointe dance classes in NYC.

It is to be noted that the proper technique of the pointe dance can only be acquired after years of practice under close supervision and training of a good instructor in pointe dance classes in NYC. At the beginning you do not only need the perfect age or physical maturity but you also need to be ready on the strength, technique, attitude and commitment aspect. Each individual varies and so it depends from individual to individual.

In case a very young dancer attempts to perform the pointe technique of dance without the proper strength and technique, the combination of the momentum and body weight which cause significant forces can permanently damage the not-fully-developed bones. But yes, if a dancer is fully ready and under proper training, even the bones which are not fully formed will not undergo any harm.

There are a number of pointe dance classes in NYC which offer the pre-pointe classes that help the ballet students to develop and strengthen their muscles and prepare them to learn the pointe technique of dance.
