1. Everyone can do it

Tap dance is one of the most popular dances among the people of all ages. Whether you are a kid who just started taking dance lessons or an adult who has always wanted to try dance, there is always a class level for you. Tap dance is not at all a girly dance form. Many famous tappers are the men who make this dance look deadly masculine. This dance form can be adapted for every fitness and skill level and will still sound and look terrific.

2. It makes a lot of noise

Whether you are 5 or 50, everyone likes a little noise every now and then. Tap dancing can be a greatly satisfying physical and emotional release due to its ability to produce sound. For children who are always told to sit and keep quiet, allowing them to stand and make noise would be amazing for them. This dance form holds a great number of therapeutic benefits for teens, adults, seniors, or anyone who wants to find their voice.

3. It helps you become smarter

Tap dancing offers to learn a variety of rhythm patterns. Learning and memorizing patterns is one of the best workouts for your brain because it is all math. Repeating, reversing, and counting different rhythm patterns help strengthen mathematics concepts that younger students learn in school. And if we talk about the adults and seniors, we already know the role mental exercise plays in promoting healthy brain activity and warding off disorders such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Tapping requires a great level of weight shifting which can help improve balance, coordination, and core control. This means you get a better posture, less back pain, and fewer chances of serious injury from falling. Considering these reasons enroll in tap dancing classes and get tapping!

Good tap dancers often make difficult and complicated steps look effortless and smooth. To become a professional in tap dancing, one needs many months and years of practice. If your child shows interest in this field, you can look for tap dance classes for kids and get him/her enrolled in this course. While searching for one, here are a few tap dance steps that you probably want to know:

Shuffle
This step is a combination of two moves- the brush and the strike. If you want to shuffle, stand on one leg and bend the other, lifting your foot off the ground. Then, turn both feet out without allowing your raised foot touch the ground. Now, perform a brush by swinging the foot forward. As it moves to your standing foot, point it slightly so the ball quickly brushes against the floor. Make sure that your heel doesn’t touch the floor. Next, you can do it with a strike. Follow the same movement in reverse; swing your foot backward instead of forwards.

Ball-change
In tap dancing classes, ball-change is the most common taught step to shift your weight from one foot to another. To perfect this step, start by standing with your feet side by side but not touching and lift your heels so that only your the balls of your feet are in contact with the floor. Then, place your right foot t behind you, and rock back onto the ball of it. As you do it, make sure that your left foot should completely leave the floor for a moment. Now, switch feet and follow the process.

Step-heel and heel-step
These two steps are the opposite of one another, and, they make a distinct sound when you perform them in a pair of tap shoes. To to the step-heel and heel-step, you have to place one foot in front of the other and bring the heel of your foot down first. Then, bring the ball of your foot down and repeat with the opposite foot. Continue until you’ve moved forward several feet. The step is just the reverse, so the ball of your foot should come down before your heel.

3 Tips On Tap Dancing That Will Help You Dance Like A Pro

Tap dance is one of the most popular and unique dance forms around the world. What makes this dance form unique is that it allows you to become a dancer as well as a “musician” at the same time. Dancers wear special type of shoes called tap shoes to create a sound in rhythm with the music by hitting the floor. If you are an amateur in the tap dancing world and aspire to become a successful dancer one day, you should join an academy or school offering tap dancing classes. Here are a few tips that will definitely help you in learning this dance form:-

Start slow - Many tap dancing beginners tend to rush through steps, which results in them speeding through combinations. This causes your steps to run together, which blends individual tap sounds into one, which is not desirable at all. If you start feeling that you are skipping steps of combinations, it is better to slow down. Producing clean tap sounds is much more important and appealing than speedy taps.

Relax the ankles - There is a reason why professional tap dancers are able to make every step look beautiful and smooth. The secret lies in relaxing the ankles. For beginners, it is very important that they do not try to overuse their ankles in order to perform their steps more quickly. This is one of the primary things that are taught in tap dancing schools. Allow your legs to do most of the work and make sure you make a conscious effort to relax your ankles.

Don’t lose the rhythm - Losing the rhythm is the last thing you want as a tap dancer when you are performing. So, make sure that your movements are in sync with the music. Not losing focus and not getting carried away with your own tap sounds is the key here.

Join tap dance classes to get professional training on the dance form and mesmerize your audience.
